The importance of Health Supplements

If you’re one of those people that just eats everything that is put in front of them and then some, this may be of interest to you. You know the sort of person I’m referring to, someone who will raid the refrigerator and eat all the leftovers, no matter what they are. We all seem to have an inbuilt desire to enjoy sweet, fattening foods. Yes, tons of us do this, it’s called instant gratification; many of us do not even know what a health supplement is.

That may sound rather far fetched but many people do this but I would always warn against such irresponsible behavior. Perhaps it’s time you started thinking about looking after yourself with some health supplements. Now don’t shy away, it’s not as bad as it seems and there is good deal of nutrition in these foods. The worst thing is when people who have never tried them say how awful they taste.

You should always try a thing before you blurt out that you can’t stand it; you aren’t being asked to eat a slimy frog now are you? I’m talking health supplements made from powder, chocolate and minerals, nothing awful. Although I have tried many, I have stuck with two regulars and one of them is a multivitamin that I have been taking for as long as I can remember. I see no reason why everyone shouldn’t take some form of vitamin supplement each day as they don’t take up any of your time but give a great deal in return.

The other health supplement- HGH supplements I enjoy is whey protein which I only started drinking a little while ago. It’s great the way this new shake offers so much protein in such a small portion. It’s also easy and very convenient to drink, in the morning and at lunch time. In addition to being easy to drink is the fact that this little shake gives you 30 grams of protein to help with muscle development.

The thing about new-age health supplements is that they’re really geared to give you all the good stuff and keep out the bad. The things you don’t want are cholesterol, sugar, saturated fat and salt, we all get enough of these things as it is. So take a look on the internet and do a little checking because I can guarantee you will feel better for taking health supplements in fact they could give you a whole new lease of life!

Children and Adolescents

Scientific studies show that atherosclerosis actually begins in childhood. The federal government and the American Heart Association recommend the following guidelines on blood cholesterol in children and adolescents from the age of two to nineteen years:

Medical experts recommend cholesterol testing for children from families with a history of heart disease.

The majority of deaths from heart disease occur in older adults, simply because the disease has had more time to develop. Older adults include men aged sixty years and older and women aged seventy-five years and older. The challenge for older adults is that risk assessment by standard risk factors is less reliable, particularly as it is expressed as a percentage of risk over a ten-year period. This, however, does not mean that high total cholesterol levels in older adults should go untreated. Instead, we should keep in mind that elevated cholesterol levels in older adults simply do not have the same predictive power as they do for other adults.

Newborn infants have average levels of LDL cholesterol of only 30 mg/dL. Some scientists believe that this provides evidence that low levels of LDL cholesterol are safe. Other scientists believe there may be a point where too-low cholesterol is bad for health.
