Anyone that suffers with acne (Zits) may feel as if they spend most of their time searching for remedies; but this is a skin condition that can be treated. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; recent medical advancements are, in fact, proving to be very effective in treating this condition. The type of acne skin care product you might use would come under three general categories:
- Those that help prevent the condition
- Internet or Drugstore: Treatment to help relieve the condition
- Prescription: Issued for specialized medication from a doctor etc.
Probably the largest part of the skin care market is products designed to clean the skin and inhibit the formation of acne; for example, special toners and skin cleansers. Many people use products similar to this every day as part of their skin care regime; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. More specialized cleaners are designed in the same way as acne skin care products; devised primarily to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. These types of products are reducing the chance of oil staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which assists the formation of the skin condition.
Exfoliation skin peels have proved quite effective as a skin care treatment and at controlling the problem; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth. Many different, specially formulated acne skin care products designed to reduce the problems have now been made available without prescription. These formulations contain the chemical benzoyl peroxide and the naturally occurring salicylic acid; these include products which extract the unwanted oil from the skin.
Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are a safer skin care regime alternative if there is a problem. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time; if finding something that works is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. On-prescription treatments are prescribed by a dermatologist and can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical ointment.
In some case your doctor may suggest the pustules are drained of harmful contents under local anesthetic; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage. Another effective course of skin care treatment is hormone therapy; studies show that hormone based skin care treatments often prove effective. Science has produced many effective treatments for this unkind condition.

There is no need to continue feeling depressed when all you need to do is make an appointment with a registered psychiatrist who will be able to help you. For the unfortunate individuals who do suffer with this problem, they are lucky to have such a range of depression medication and therapies to take advantage of these days. Depression should no longer be the seemingly permanent problem it once was but as with many medical conditions, an early diagnosis is preferably; unfortunately the cost can still be high. Experts in cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy have found great success in dealing with people suffering with depression.
Luckily both types of treatment can work in, medically speaking, a short time period often in less than twenty weeks marked improvements can be seen in the depressed patient. Early diagnosis is the key to a speedy recovery and the obvious need to know exactly what type of depression is being suffered whether it is manic depression, clinical or another type. It’s best that you’re sure what you’re actually dealing with and as there are various depression medications that are available in the market you should make sure that you get the most appropriate one. The number of anti-depressant medications available is a sure indication that this is a large problem and that there is no cure-all drug to beat the problem.
The tricyclics are not as popular as the newer serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or the monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Unfortunately the tricyclics have more side-effects so tend not to be prescribed with the same frequency as the newer types. Sometimes it is necessary to take a combination of drugs as this is the most effective method of controlling the problem. If the doctor believes it will benefit the patient he will use as many of the drugs together as he believes necessary.
In addition to this, the dosages can actually be increased or lowered depending on what the doctor finds to be the most effective. While it may be normal and expected for doctors to try this mix and matching, the patients are warned against playing with their depression medication dosages. The patient must also learn that sedatives and other anti-anxiety medications are not anti-depressant drugs and should not be used as substitutes. Although often prescribed as a combination treatment with other medication, anti-anxiety drugs are not used to cure the problem.
The reason for using these depression medication drugs is merely to calm the nerves of depressed patients not to help cure the depression itself. Although still used quite regularly, it is the tricyclics that cause the most commonly seen side-effects. Some people do not mind these side-effects from these drugs, however if it does become too much of a bother they can result in ruining a persons ability to function properly. In any situation like this the first course of action is to report it to your physician as soon as possible.
